Задание 1

Android

There are different operating systems in use now. Each of them has its symbol .You see here the symbols of Windows OS, Linux, Mac OS, Android. Each OS is designed for specific microprocessor. Operating systems have the same features and also a lot of differences. Some of them, for e.g. Windows OS are the most commonly used now. They have about 90% of the markets share. Some OS, e.g. Linux has only 1% of the market share, in spite of the fact, that this OS is free of charge.

Android is an operating system for smartphones, tablet PCs , digital players, digital photo frames, watches, net books and smart books based on the Linux kernel. Originally developed by Android Inc., which was then bought by Google. Android allows you to create Java –applications

Features

· Application framework enabling reuse and replacement of components

· Dalvik virtual machine optimized for mobile devices

· Integrated browser based on the open source Web Kit engine

· Optimized graphics powered by a custom 2D graphics library; 3D graphics based on the OpenGL ES 1.0 specification (hardware acceleration optional)

· SQ Lite for structured data storage

· Media support for common audio, video, and still image formats (MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, PNG, GIF)

· GSM Telephony (hardware dependent)

· Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G, and Wi-Fi (hardware dependent)

· Camera, GPS, compass, and accelerometer (hardware dependent)

· Rich development environment including a device emulator, tools for debugging, memory and performance profiling, and a plugin for the Eclipse IDE

Release history

The first device running Android was developed by HTC smartphone T-Mobile G1, which was launched on twenty third of September 2008. At the moment nine versions of the system are released and another is under construction. The latest version - 3.2 «Honeycomb».

Interesting Facts

§ Especially for the Android platform a font family Droid has been created.

§ The name of each new version on Android is the name of a dessert: Applebread, Bender, Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.

§ According to the February 2011 devices with Android surely lead the list of most popular smartphones of Great Britain, leaving behind the iPhone 4 and Apple iOS .

§ Weekly, Android-military users are growing at 4.4%. And in 2010, the figure was 160 thousand activations on a daily basis, in July 2011it had already reached 550 thousand new devices, activated each day.
