1. Абсолютное большинство глаголов образуют PresentParticiple путем простого прибавления -ing к основе глагола:

2. Если глагол заканчивается на -e, то -e выпадает:

dance- dancing

Исключениямиявляютсяглаголы:

age-ageing

agree-agreeing

disagree-disagreeing

dye-dyeing

free-freeing

knee-kneeing

singe-singeing

referee-refereeing

tiptoe-tiptoeing

3. Если глагол заканчивается на –ie, то -ie переходит в -y:

tie — tying

4. Односложные глаголы с кратким гласным в корне и одной согласной на конце удваивают конечную согласную:

dip-dipping

run-running

5. 5. Двусложные глаголы, заканчивающиеся на краткий гласный +l, удваивают конечную l:
